Broodcaller Scourge card art
Broodcaller Scourge floods the board the moment it enters — every Dragon you control spawns a token, turning a mid-game board state into an immediate army. The cost is a six-mana body that does nothing if you have no Dragons in play, so it earns its slot only in dedicated tribal shells. Ureni of the Unwritten makes that condition trivially easy to meet, which is why it shows up in over 80% of those decks.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Ureni of the Unwritten

Ureni of the Unwritten

82.6% of decks · synergy 0.72

Ureni of the Unwritten is the natural home for Broodcaller Scourge — Ureni's ability to put Dragons directly into play means the board is already stocked when Broodcaller Scourge lands, converting a full field into a matching wave of tokens in a single trigger.

02
Ganax, Astral HunterAcolyte of Bahamut

Ganax, Astral Hunter // Acolyte of Bahamut

29.5% of decks · synergy 0.29

Ganax, Astral Hunter // Acolyte of Bahamut cares about playing Dragons to generate Treasure, and Broodcaller Scourge adds a second layer of value by also populating the board with tokens every time a Dragon arrives — doubling the payoff on each cast.

03
Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm

26.2% of decks · synergy 0.16

Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm copies every Dragon that enters the battlefield, so Broodcaller Scourge's trigger fires on both the original and the copy — one Dragon entering can suddenly mean two new tokens plus the Dragon itself.

04
The Ur-Dragon

The Ur-Dragon

14.6% of decks · synergy 0.13

The Ur-Dragon cheats Dragons into play through its attack trigger, and Broodcaller Scourge turns that cascade of free Dragons into an equally large wave of tokens, widening the board faster than opponents can answer it.

oathbreaker

Broodcaller Scourge is a Commander card front to back — the payoff scales with the density of Dragon synergies your deck can assemble, and 100-card singleton Dragon tribal is exactly the environment where that density is achievable. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but irrelevant; six mana for a conditional token generator doesn't come close to competing at those tables. Oathbreaker is the one 60-card-adjacent format where a Dragon-focused build could realistically deploy it, though the smaller deck size makes consistent Dragon density harder to guarantee.

$1.74 cheap tier

At $1.74, Broodcaller Scourge sits firmly in the cheap tier — low enough that it's a no-brainer inclusion in any Dragon tribal build that can use it. Given its 80%+ inclusion rate in Ureni of the Unwritten decks, demand is real, so don't expect this to drop further as the format ages.
