Brittle Effigy exiles any creature on the board for zero mana — the catch is it costs five activations to do it, one per turn, making it too slow for formats where threats need answering immediately. Colorless exile on a zero-drop is a real effect, but the five-turn wind-up disqualifies it from most competitive lists.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Brittle Effigy sees its only realistic play, and even there it's a fringe inclusion — colorless removal fits any deck, but five tap activations across five turns is a steep ask when most tables are decided before then. In Legacy and Vintage, faster and more efficient removal makes this unplayable in practice despite its legality. Modern has Path to Exile, Solitude, and a dozen other instant-speed answers that make Brittle Effigy look like a relic. The zero casting cost is the one genuine argument for running it — you can drop it turn one and start the clock — but that clock ticks far too slowly to matter in any format with real pressure.

Price Context
Current price
$0.29 bulk tier
At $0.29, Brittle Effigy is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not power. That price is unlikely to move in either direction; the card sees almost no competitive play and has no meaningful scarcity driving demand.
