Brawler's Plate card art
Brawler's Plate gives a creature +2/+2 and trample for three mana to cast and two to equip — five mana total to make one attacker marginally harder to chump-block. The rate is poor by any standard, and nearly every equipment at this price point does more.

Format Analysis

Brawler's Plate is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but competitive pressure in those 60-card formats makes it a non-starter — better equipment exists at every cost bracket. In Commander, the only reasonable home is a dedicated Voltron build desperate for redundancy after slots 10 through 15 are already filled with Sword of Fire and Ice, Colossus Hammer, and their peers. Even there, Brawler's Plate competes against equipment that grants evasion, protection, or an enters-the-battlefield effect, and it loses that comparison cleanly.

Price Context

Current price

$0.12 bulk tier

At $0.12, Brawler's Plate is deep bulk — it costs less than the sleeve you'd put it in. That price reflects demand accurately: this is a card you add when you need a physical placeholder, not one you seek out.
