Boundary Lands Ranger card art
Boundary Lands Ranger puts a land directly onto the battlefield and replaces itself with a card draw — that's a two-for-one stapled to a body. The cost is a five-mana 3/4 with no evasion, which is slow enough that commanders like The Locust God, who can flood the board with tokens, need more explosive ramp than this provides.

Boundary Lands Ranger is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower clock and singleton construction make a five-mana body that fetches a land and replaces itself genuinely playable in landfall and ramp shells. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, five mana for a non-impactful creature body is simply too slow when dedicated ramp spells accomplish the same at a fraction of the cost. Legacy and Vintage make that gap even wider. Standard is the one exception where a card like this could see fringe play during lean periods in a set rotation, but it competes against pushed alternatives and rarely earns a slot.

Price Context

Current price

$0.12 bulk tier

At $0.12, Boundary Lands Ranger is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar box, not tracking it on a buylist. Bulk rares with niche landfall synergy rarely climb unless a new commander warps demand around them, so treat it as a low-stakes include rather than a hold.
