Bottled Cloister card art
Bottled Cloister draws you an extra card every turn — at the cost of having zero cards in hand on your opponents' turns, which blanks discard effects aimed at you but leaves you with nothing to interact with. It's a real draw engine in decks that act almost entirely on their own turn, and a liability in anything that wants to hold up interaction.

In Commander, Bottled Cloister occupies a narrow but real niche: decks that operate exclusively on their own turn can run it as a budget draw engine with a built-in discard shield, which occasionally matters against wheel-heavy tables. Outside Commander, Bottled Cloister is legal in Legacy, Vintage, and Modern, but those formats demand instant-speed interaction — handing opponents a window of zero cards in hand is an enormous liability against counterspells, discard, and combat tricks. No competitive list in any of those formats has any reason to run it when Phyrexian Arena, Sylvan Library, and similar options exist without the hand-exile drawback. Treat Bottled Cloister as a Commander-only card in practice.
