Borrowed Time exiles any nonland permanent your opponent controls — creatures, planeswalkers, artifacts, enchantments, all of it — for three mana at sorcery speed. It's a clean, unconditional answer stapled to a fragile enchantment, which means the exiled card comes back the moment Borrowed Time leaves the battlefield.

In Commander, Borrowed Time competes in a crowded slot — white has Swords to Plowshares, Generous Gift, and Ossification all fighting for the same removal budget, and the enchantment-based exile clause is a real liability at a four-player table where someone is always holding an Austere Command or a Bane of Progress. Where Borrowed Time earns its slot is in enchantress builds that want density of enchantments rather than strict efficiency, or in decks that can exploit the exile-until-this-leaves trigger for political or combo purposes. In Modern and Pioneer it's outclassed on rate by cards that answer permanents at instant speed or without the return clause, so it sees virtually no competitive play there. Legacy and Vintage don't want it either — the formats move too fast for a sorcery-speed, three-mana enchantment with a built-in liability.

Price Context
Current price
$0.30 bulk tier
At $0.30, Borrowed Time is firmly bulk — easy to pick up as a casual inclusion without any budget consideration. The price reflects its limited competitive demand; as long as white continues to receive efficient removal, don't expect Borrowed Time to climb out of the bulk bin.
