Boon of Safety card art
Boon of Safety gives a creature indestructible until end of turn and puts a shield counter on it — protection now and a free save banked for later, all on one card. At one white mana, it's an overperformer in any deck that wants cheap interaction with its own creatures, and Feather, the Redeemed turns the whole thing recursive, making it effectively free on every subsequent turn.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Feather, the Redeemed

Feather, the Redeemed

53.3% of decks · synergy 0.51

Feather, the Redeemed returns Boon of Safety to hand at end of turn, so a single copy becomes a repeatable indestructibility engine that also accrues shield counters across your whole board over the course of a game.

02
Zethi, Arcane Blademaster

Zethi, Arcane Blademaster

38.3% of decks · synergy 0.37

Zethi, Arcane Blademaster imprints instants and casts them for free during combat, making Boon of Safety a no-cost protection spell every attack step — that shield counter sticks around even after Zethi moves on to the next target.

Falco Spara, Pactweaver

Falco Spara, Pactweaver

8.3% of decks · synergy 0.08

Falco Spara, Pactweaver uses counters on creatures to cast spells off the top of the library, and a shield counter from Boon of Safety counts — drop the spell on a creature you were protecting anyway and you get a free look at your next card.

Format Analysis

In Commander, Boon of Safety earns its slot in any white deck that runs a critical-piece commander — one mana to save your general and leave a shield counter behind is excellent rate. In Pauper, where cheap protection spells do real work and commons are the entire card pool, it fits right into white aggro and heroic shells. Modern and Pioneer have access to more powerful protection options like Sejiri Shelter and Slip Out the Back, so Boon of Safety mostly cedes ground there to cards that do more or cost the same. Legacy and Vintage won't touch it — the formats move too fast for a single-target protection spell at this power level.

Price Context

Current price

$0.27 bulk tier

At $0.27, Boon of Safety sits firmly in bulk territory, which is accurate — it's a role-player, not a format staple. Bulk commons don't appreciate; pick it up for your Feather, the Redeemed build and don't think twice about the price.
