Boil destroys every Island on the battlefield at instant speed for three mana — in the right meta, that's a one-sided wrath that ends the game on the spot. Run it if your table has at least two blue players; skip it if you're the only red deck at a control-light table.

In Commander, Boil is a meta-call card with a ceiling that's almost unfair — blue is the most-played color in the format, and wiping every Island at instant speed during an opponent's end step can strand hands full of counterspells and leave control players with nothing but lands they can't tap. In Legacy and Vintage, Boil has seen sideboard play as a nuclear answer to Island-heavy blue tempo and control shells, where resolving it often ends the game outright. Modern's fetchland ecosystem makes it marginally less reliable since basics are thin on the ground, but any Island-centric build still gets punished hard. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's calculus — Boil is either a blowout or a dead card depending entirely on how much blue is across the table.

Pricing data for Boil isn't currently available in this context, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the most accurate number. Historically it's been an inexpensive uncommon, and given its narrow but punishing role as a sideboard-style card in Commander, it tends to sit in bulk-to-low-value territory.
