Bloodwater Entity card art
Bloodwater Entity enters, puts an instant or sorcery from your graveyard on top of your library, and attacks as a 3/3 with flying and prowess — all for four mana. In Elsha of the Infinite and Balmor, Battlemage Captain shells, that triggered ability is the whole point: it recycles a key spell, immediately reloads the engine, and the body is incidental.

Balmor, Battlemage Captain

Balmor, Battlemage Captain turns every instant and sorcery into a team pump, and Bloodwater Entity closes the loop by returning the best spell in your graveyard to the top — so the card you used to trigger Balmor once can trigger him again next turn.

Format Analysis

Bloodwater Entity is legal everywhere except Standard, but Commander is where it actually earns a slot. Four mana for a recursive effect is too slow for Pauper's tempo demands and barely register in Legacy or Vintage, where graveyard recursion happens cheaper and faster. Modern and Pioneer have enough competition at the four-drop slot that the Entity rarely makes cuts outside of dedicated spellslinger brews. Commander's slower pace and graveyard-reliance make Bloodwater Entity a legitimate engine piece rather than a consolation pick.

Price Context

Current price

$0.26 bulk tier

At $0.26, Bloodwater Entity is firmly bulk — easy to pick up without a second thought. Bulk rares with genuine combo applications tend to stay flat; there's no scarcity driving the price up, so don't expect movement.
