Blighted Agent wins games by itself — infect plus unblockability means every +1/+1 counter source, every pump spell, every proliferate trigger converts directly into a poisoned opponent. The cost is that you've built around a 1/1 that dies to any removal, so you need to be killing someone the turn you commit.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Ezuri, Claw of Progress
Ezuri, Claw of Progress turns every experience counter into a lethal threat when Blighted Agent is on board — two experience counters on attack kills a player through any board state, and Ezuri generates them faster than opponents can answer both pieces.

Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus
Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus doubles every proliferate trigger, which means each activation stacks poison counters on opponents twice as fast — Blighted Agent is the preferred infect body here because it connects through any blocker without support.

Mimeoplasm, Revered One
Mimeoplasm, Revered One can enter as a massive infect threat by copying Blighted Agent's infect keyword while taking a power from any large creature in a graveyard, threatening a one-shot kill the turn it resolves.

Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres
Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres proliferates whenever you draw your second card each turn, so Blighted Agent becomes a clock that accelerates itself — each combat connection pairs with draw-step proliferates to push opponents toward ten.

Volrath, the Shapestealer
Volrath, the Shapestealer can become Blighted Agent at the start of any combat, inheriting infect and unblockability on a 7/5 body that kills a player in a single hit — it's the primary reason Volrath decks run Blighted Agent at all.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Blighted Agent does its real work — ten poison counters is a fixed threshold, so the three-player life total difference that slows aggro decks down doesn't apply here, and unblockability means the Agent connects even through established boards. In Pauper, infect as an archetype is viable and Blighted Agent slots into blue-green infect lists as one of the best common infect creatures available. Legacy and Vintage see it occasionally in fringe infect shells, though those formats move fast enough that a 1/1 unblockable body without pump attached rarely makes the cut over more efficient options. Pioneer and Standard are off the table entirely.

Price Context
Current price
$1.70 cheap tier
At $1.70, Blighted Agent sits in the easy-include tier — you're not making a budget decision, you're just adding it. The price has held steady because demand from Commander infect decks is consistent and the card doesn't have competitive-format spikes to drive volatility.
