Blight Mound card art
Blight Mound turns every nontoken creature death into a 1/1 Phyrexian Mite with toxic 1 — an on-board engine that snowballs fast in sacrifice shells. The three-mana enchantment cost is trivial next to what it enables: pair it with Phyrexian Altar and you have a self-sustaining loop, and Blech, Loafing Pest decks treat it as a near-auto-include for exactly that reason.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Blech, Loafing Pest

Blech, Loafing Pest

67.9% of decks · synergy 0.63

Blight Mound is in roughly 68% of Blech, Loafing Pest decks because the Mite tokens it generates feed Blech's life-loss trigger directly — every creature that dies replaces itself with a source of poison and damage.

02
Dina, Essence Brewer

Dina, Essence Brewer

59.1% of decks · synergy 0.55

Dina, Essence Brewer drains opponents whenever you gain life, and Blight Mound keeps the creature count high enough to sustain sacrifice loops that generate those life-gain triggers repeatedly.

03
Savra, Queen of the Golgari

Savra, Queen of the Golgari

51.0% of decks · synergy 0.47

Savra, Queen of the Golgari rewards you for sacrificing black and green creatures with board-wide edict effects and life gain, and Blight Mound ensures every creature death produces a fresh black Mite to feed the next sacrifice.

04
Yawgmoth, Thran Physician

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician

41.4% of decks · synergy 0.39

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician needs a steady stream of creatures to sacrifice for his proliferate-and-draw ability, and Blight Mound guarantees that each nontoken death produces a new body to sacrifice immediately.

05
Beledros Witherbloom

Beledros Witherbloom

34.6% of decks · synergy 0.30

Beledros Witherbloom scales on life paid and creatures on board, and Blight Mound populates the battlefield with Mites each time a creature dies, giving Beledros more fodder to convert into mana or trigger value.

oathbreaker

Blight Mound is a Commander card through and through — the slow-burn value it provides is best appreciated in a 40-life, multiplayer game where sacrifice loops have time to generate overwhelming advantage. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, the three-mana enchantment speed and reliance on a board state to function make it uncompetitive against the cantrip-and-combo density of those formats. Oathbreaker is a reasonable home for the same reasons Commander is: the game goes long enough that Blight Mound's engine pays off. Anywhere with a 60-card singleton or nonexistent, Blight Mound simply isn't on the menu.

Price Context

Current price

$0.61 bulk tier

At $0.61, Blight Mound sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to pick up as a throw-in or cheap add to any order. Given its high inclusion rate in Blech, Loafing Pest and several other popular sacrifice commanders, the price reflects wide availability rather than low demand, and it's unlikely to move meaningfully unless a marquee reprint vehicle pushes it further down.
