Bearer of the Heavens card art
Bearer of the Heavens ends the board state the moment it dies — every permanent, not just creatures, gone. The catch is the 8-mana price tag and the symmetry, which means you need a plan to break parity, and Gift of Immortality is the cleanest way to do it.

Bearer of the Heavens is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower pace gives you time to reach 8 mana and assemble the sacrifice engine needed to weaponize the trigger. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's essentially unplayable competitively; the mana cost is fatal in formats where games end on turn 3–5, and the symmetrical destruction has no reliable home in any established shell. Vintage technically allows it, but nothing about the format's prison or combo strategies wants an 8-mana vanilla body as a reset condition. Commander is where Bearer of the Heavens has a real job: in sacrifice-focused or reanimator builds, it functions as a repeatable, one-sided Armageddon when you control the timing of its death.

Price Context

Current price

$0.37 bulk tier

At $0.37, Bearer of the Heavens is firmly bulk — there's no financial barrier to picking one up for any sacrifice or reanimator build that wants it. Bulk rares with narrow, build-around applications like this one don't tend to climb unless a new commander spikes demand, so buy it for the deck, not the spec.
