Aven Wind Guide card art
Aven Wind Guide hands your entire token board flying and vigilance the moment it enters — that's a combat-ending swing, not a marginal buff. Plumecreed Mentor and Soundwave, Sonic Spy both run it precisely because the effect is immediate, wide, and doesn't ask you to already be winning.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01

Soundwave, Sonic Spy

47.1% of decks · synergy 0.46

Soundwave, Sonic Spy builds a board of token copies, and Aven Wind Guide turns that whole flock evasive in one shot — flying plus vigilance means you attack freely and still hold up blockers, which is exactly what a token swarm needs to close games.

02
G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn

G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn

13.4% of decks · synergy 0.13

G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn generates tokens as a byproduct of its reanimation and collection engine, and Aven Wind Guide gives that incidental board a meaningful aerial threat without requiring a dedicated slot for an anthem effect.

Format Analysis

In Commander, Aven Wind Guide earns its slot in any token strategy that goes wide — the combination of flying and vigilance on a populated board is genuinely threatening, and four mana for an immediate anthem effect on a body is a reasonable rate. Outside Commander, it sees almost no competitive play: Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy all move too fast for a four-mana 3/3 that doesn't protect itself or end the game on the spot. Oathbreaker could support it in a token-focused shell, but the format's speed works against it there too.

Price Context

Current price

$0.31 bulk tier

At $0.31, Aven Wind Guide sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to pick up as a four-of or toss into any token build without budget concern. Bulk commons and uncommons at this price point don't tend to move unless a format-defining deck adopts them, and there's no realistic path to that here.
