Aven Squire gives you a flying exalted attacker for two mana — the effect is real, the body is not. Outside of dedicated exalted builds headlined by Rafiq of the Many, it's too fragile and too replaceable to earn a slot.

Rafiq of the Many
Rafiq of the Many's double-strike trigger turns every exalted bonus into a multiplied threat, and Aven Squire stacks another +1/+1 onto each solo attack while staying airborne to threaten on its own.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Aven Squire is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it only shows up in anger in Commander exalted builds. In Pauper it's outclassed by more aggressive two-drops that don't depend on a tribal mechanic to matter. Legacy and Vintage don't want it at any price — the power floor is simply too low. Commander is the one format where stacking multiple exalted triggers on a single attacker is a real strategy, and that's where Aven Squire earns its keep, narrowly.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Aven Squire is deep bulk — easy to pick up, zero barrier to testing. Bulk commons with narrow applications like this one don't tend to spike, so don't expect the price to move.
