Auriok Bladewarden card art
Auriok Bladewarden's activated ability pumps any target creature's power and toughness until end of turn — useful on its face, but the reason it shows up in tuned lists is Necrotic Ooze, which copies the ability from the graveyard and enables multi-pump combo lines. Outside of that specific shell, a 1/1 for two with a tap ability that doesn't close games is a hard sell.

Auriok Bladewarden is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it sees essentially no play outside of Commander. In Legacy and Vintage the competition for two-drop slots is severe enough that a tap-to-pump creature never makes the cut. Modern is the same story — creature-based strategies there demand immediate board impact. Commander is where Auriok Bladewarden finds its niche, and even then only in graveyard-combo decks built around activated abilities, not as a general-purpose support piece.

Price Context

Current price

$0.20 bulk tier

At $0.20, Auriok Bladewarden is firmly bulk — the kind of card you pick out of a commons box rather than seek out on the secondary market. Demand is narrow enough that the price is unlikely to climb without a reprint driving renewed combo interest, so grab it cheap when you need it and don't expect it to appreciate.
