Ascent of the Worthy
Enchantment — Saga
(As this Saga enters and after your draw step, add a lore counter. Sacrifice after III.)
I, II — Choose a creature you control. Until your next turn, all damage that would be dealt to creatures you control is dealt to that creature instead.
III — Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a flying counter on it. That creature is an Angel Warrior in addition to its other types.

Ascent of the Worthy turns your commander into a recursive threat that straps a free creature to every attack — the payoff is real and the setup cost is just playing your commander, which you were doing anyway. Three mana to enchant it is the only ask, and the value compounds fast in a long game.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Ascent of the Worthy is essentially a Commander card — the design assumes a persistent, named creature you keep returning to, and no other format provides that built-in target. In Commander, it rewards aggressive creature-heavy builds that want to attack with their commander repeatedly, and the token accumulation becomes a real problem for opponents over turns five through ten. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer are legal on paper, but the enchantment is too slow and too dependent on a specific creature surviving to see any competitive play in those formats. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander variant where it has a natural home, since the oathbreaker fills the same persistent-commander role.

Price Context
Current price
$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, Ascent of the Worthy is deep bulk — you'll find it in commons boxes or as a throw-in, not as a meaningful budget decision. That price is stable for a niche enchantment with a narrow home; don't expect movement in either direction.
