Ark of Blight destroys a land — and only a land — for three mana at sorcery speed, which is a steep rate for an effect most Commander tables actively avoid running. Unless your deck specifically rewards land destruction or your meta demands it, this slot is almost always better spent on a piece of removal that hits any permanent.

In Commander, Ark of Blight occupies the narrow lane of dedicated land destruction strategies — think Zo-Zu the Punisher or Numot, the Devastator builds that want to keep opponents off mana. Outside that context, three mana at sorcery speed to kill one land is too slow and too socially costly to be worth the slot. In Legacy and Vintage, cheaper and more flexible land hate exists in abundance, so Ark of Blight doesn't see meaningful play there either. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander in this regard — playable only in a list built around punishing land counts.

Price Context
Current price
$0.20 bulk tier
At $0.20, Ark of Blight is firmly bulk — you're not paying a premium for this effect. The low price reflects low demand, and nothing about its design suggests that changes.
