Angel of Renewal enters and gains you life equal to the number of creatures you control — in token-heavy Commander builds, that's a meaningful life cushion stapled to a 3/4 flying body. The six-mana cost is the ceiling here, and outside of Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker loops that abuse the ETB repeatedly, you're mostly paying full price for a one-shot effect that stronger lifegain options do cheaper.

Angel of Renewal is a niche Commander card, almost exclusively relevant in white token or lifegain synergy decks where the ETB scales with a wide board. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it sees no meaningful play — six mana for a conditional lifegain trigger is simply too slow and too replaceable in those formats. Vintage has better things to do at that mana value. Angel of Renewal's entire competitive identity lives in Commander, and even there it's a role-player rather than a centerpiece.
