Ana Disciple card art
Ana Disciple trades a one-time activated ability for deathtouch on a target creature, threatening any attacker or blocker that gets tagged — but you're paying one mana and tapping a 1/1 to do it, which is a fragile delivery mechanism. It's a niche tool, not a staple.

In Commander, Ana Disciple occupies a very narrow slot: tap-to-grant-deathtouch is only worth a deck slot if you're building around untap synergies or deathtouch payoffs like Saryth, the Viper's Fang or Fynn, the Fangbearer. In Legacy and Vintage, it's simply outclassed — those formats have no interest in a 1/1 with a tap ability at one mana. Pauper is its most realistic competitive home, where deathtouch on a common body can occasionally matter in creature-centric metas, but even there Ana Disciple rarely sees play. The honest read across all formats is that this card needs a dedicated shell to justify inclusion.

Price Context

Current price

$0.09 bulk tier

At $0.09, Ana Disciple is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not power. There's no meaningful demand driver that would push this above bulk pricing, so treat it as a freely available piece if a specific deathtouch-combo build calls for it.
