Alabaster Dragon card art
Alabaster Dragon trades real board presence — a 4/4 flyer that returns itself from the graveyard — for a mana cost that makes it compete awkwardly with everything white does better at six. Outside of a dedicated reanimation or Verdant Succession shell, there's almost never a reason to run it.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

Alabaster Dragon is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but that legality doesn't translate to playability in any of them. In Commander, six mana for a vanilla-adjacent 4/4 is a steep ask when white has Serra Angel variants, Baneslayer Angel, and recursive threats that do more on entry. Legacy and Vintage move too fast for a six-mana creature with no enters-the-battlefield effect to matter. Oathbreaker is the only format where a focused white life-gain or recursion shell could find marginal use for it, and even there it's a stretch.

Current price

$0.33 bulk tier

At $0.33, Alabaster Dragon sits firmly in bulk territory. It's unlikely to appreciate — demand is too narrow and supply too plentiful — so pick it up only if you've already committed to a specific combo build around it.
