Agate Assault gives a creature double strike and trample until end of turn — on a single red mana, that's a combat math nightmare for anyone blocking it. In Alania, Divergent Storm builds where every instant matters for copy triggers, this is the floor-priced enabler that also closes games.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Alania, Divergent Storm
Alania, Divergent Storm triggers off each instant you cast, and Agate Assault is a one-mana instant that converts any evasive threat into a two-hit kill — it does double duty as a storm-count increaser and a finisher in the same shell.

Mabel, Heir to Cragflame
Mabel, Heir to Cragflame wants to connect in combat repeatedly, and Agate Assault turns a single Mabel swing into a lethal double-strike, trample hit without needing any other setup.

In Commander, Agate Assault is a combat trick that earns its slot only in decks that want to close out a specific player in one attack — think voltron or go-wide strategies that need a finisher disguised as a spell. Pauper is where it has the most competitive footing: one mana for double strike and trample is legitimate tempo in aggressive red lists. In Modern and Pioneer it's too narrow — combat tricks at sorcery speed would be unplayable, and even at instant speed the effect is replaceable by more resilient threats. Standard and Legacy are similar stories; Agate Assault isn't pulling anyone into those formats.

$0.16 bulk tier
At $0.16, Agate Assault is deep bulk — you're not tracking this one for value, you're just throwing it in a cart when you need the effect. It will stay at this price floor indefinitely; combat tricks at this power level don't spike.
