Acolyte's Reward
Instant
Prevent the next X damage that would be dealt to target creature this turn, where X is your devotion to white. If damage is prevented this way, Acolyte's Reward deals that much damage to any target. (Each in the mana costs of permanents you control counts toward your devotion to white.)

Acolyte's Reward redirects damage equal to the number of white permanents you control — in the right deck, that's a lethal counterpunch at instant speed for two mana. The floor is narrow and parasitic, but the ceiling is a one-sided board wipe that also kills a player.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

Acolyte's Reward is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it sees virtually no play outside Commander. In competitive non-rotating formats the effect is too conditional — white-permanent density isn't a given, and two mana that does nothing without a critical mass of permanents in play doesn't compete with unconditional interaction. Commander is where it actually lives: token-heavy white strategies like Teysa Karlov or Jetmir, Nexus of Revels can easily count fifteen or more white permanents, turning any combat damage or burn spell aimed at you into a kill shot. Outside dedicated white go-wide builds, it's still a near-blank.

Price Context
Current price
$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Acolyte's Reward is deep bulk — the price reflects its narrow playability. Don't expect the price to move; this is a spec-proof card that will sit in the $0.10–$0.25 band indefinitely.
