Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle is the engine: every historic spell cast rebounds Aether Channeler from the graveyard, and each Channeler trigger bounces either Sol Ring or the historic spell back to hand, keeping the loop self-sustaining. Phyrexian Altar converts each Channeler sacrifice into colored mana, and the net mana each cycle scales with how cheaply the third historic card can be cast — anything below the 3-mana threshold turns a loop into an infinite mana engine. White-blue artifact commanders like Urza, Lord High Artificer or Shorikai, Genesis Engine run this cleanly.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You have a historic permanent card in hand that can be cast using {C} and two colored mana. If the historic permanent can be cast for less than {C} and two colored mana, this combo nets infinite mana.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Sol Ring by tapping it, adding {C}{C}.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Aether Channeler, adding one mana of any color.
  3. Cast the historic permanent from your hand by paying its mana cost.
  4. Teshar triggers, returning Aether Channeler from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  5. When Aether Channeler enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Sol Ring from the battlefield to your hand.
  6. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Aether Channeler, adding one mana of any color.
  7. Cast Sol Ring by paying {1}.
  8. Teshar triggers, returning Aether Channeler from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  9. When Aether Channeler enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning the historic permanent cast in step 3 from the battlefield to your hand.
  10. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Aether Channeler, adding one mana of any color.
  11. Repeat from step 3.

03

Result

Infinite LTB; Infinite ETB; Infinite colored mana; Infinite sacrifice triggers; Infinite death triggers; Infinite colorless mana; Infinite storm count

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

The third historic slot is the most flexible piece — Wayfarer's Bauble, Mishra's Bauble, or any 0-to-1-mana artifact all net positive mana per loop and are trivially tutorable. If Aether Channeler is removed before the loop closes, Archaeomancer or Salvager of Ruin can substitute as the bounce-on-ETB body, though neither returns noncreature permanents with the same flexibility. Walking Ballista or Altar of the Brood closes the game once mana or storm count goes infinite.
