Toph, the First Metalbender + Meloku the Clouded Mirror + Sol Ring

3-card combo · RGWU

Verdict

Yes — this 3-card loop uses Meloku and Sol Ring as a bounce engine to generate infinite tokens and ETB triggers under Toph's landfall engine.

Meloku the Clouded Mirror costs 1 to return Sol Ring to hand and mint a 1/1 Illusion token; Sol Ring casts itself back for free off the two colorless it produces, closing the loop cleanly. Toph, the First Metalbender converts every Sol Ring ETB into a landfall trigger, so the loop doesn't just make tokens — it fires every landfall payable in the deck infinitely. This is the shell for any Toph build that already wants Meloku as a token producer and runs Sol Ring as a baseline piece.

Recipe

How it works

Prerequisites

02

Steps

  1. Activate Sol Ring by tapping it, adding {C}{C}.
  2. Activate Meloku by paying {1} and returning Sol Ring from the battlefield to your hand, creating a 1/1 Illusion creature token.
  3. Cast Sol Ring by paying its mana cost.
  4. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite ETB; Infinite storm count; Infinite creature tokens; Infinite landfall triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Any 0- or 1-mana artifact that taps for two or more colorless can replace Sol Ring in the loop — Mana Vault or Chrome Mox in artifact-dense lists. Outside the engine itself, Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors converts the infinite tokens into a table kill; without a damage outlet the loop produces infinite board presence but no immediate win.
