Umori, the Collector reduces the artifact to zero mana, meaning each cast triggers Jhoira for free card draw while Words of Wind redirects each draw trigger into a forced bounce for every player. Sol Ring cycles back to hand to restart the loop, and the artifact follows the same path, making the engine self-sustaining at the cost of one colorless activation per cycle. Opponents lose their entire board incrementally, including lands, making this one of the cleaner non-combat locks available in UBRG.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You have an artifact card in hand that can be cast for {0} due to Umori. You can use an artifact creature to get infinite ETB and LTB triggers. If you do not use a creature, this combo will not produce those results.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Sol Ring by tapping it, adding {C}{C}.
  2. Activate Words of Wind by paying {1}.
  3. Cast an artifact by paying {0}.
  4. Jhoira triggers, causing each player to return a permanent they control from the battlefield to their hand due to Words of Wind, with you returning Sol Ring to your hand.
  5. Activate Words of Wind by paying {1}.
  6. Cast Sol Ring by paying {0}.
  7. Jhoira triggers, causing each player to return a permanent they control from the battlefield to their hand due to Words of Wind, with you returning the artifact cast in step 3 to your hand.
  8. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite storm count; Return all permanents opponents control to their owner's hand; Infinite LTB; Infinite ETB; Mass Land Denial

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Any zero-mana artifact works as the bounce target if Umori is on the battlefield — Ornithopter and Memnite slot in as artifact creatures if the deck wants infinite ETB and LTB triggers alongside the board wipe. Words of Wind is the hardest piece to replace since it converts the draw trigger wholesale; if it's removed, the engine collapses entirely, so protecting it with countermagic is non-negotiable over protecting any other piece.
