Cormela, Glamour Thief funds the loop: her tap ability covers the {U}{B}{R} needed for Saw in Half, and Dark Ritual covers the remaining {2} with black mana to spare. Saw in Half destroys Cormela, makes two tokens, the legend rule kills one, and both death triggers return Saw in Half and Dark Ritual to hand — resetting the whole cycle. Grixis storm commanders like Kess, Dissident Mage or Veyran, Voice of Duality are natural homes, since both pieces are instants or sorceries that fuel the same triggers the shell already wants.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

02

Steps

  1. Cast Dark Ritual by paying {B}, adding {B}{B}{B}.
  2. Activate Cormela by paying {1} and tapping them, adding {U}{B}{R} that can only be used to cast instants or sorceries.
  3. Cast Saw in Half by paying {2}{B} targeting Cormela, destroying them and creating two token copies of Cormela with half the destroyed creature's base power and toughness.
  4. Put one of the Cormela tokens in the graveyard due to the legend rule.
  5. The Cormela that died in step 3 and the Cormela that died in step 4 each trigger when they die, returning Dark Ritual and Saw in Half from your graveyard to your hand.
  6. Repeat.

Result

Infinite black mana; Infinite blue mana that can only be spent to cast instant and sorcery spells; Infinite death triggers; Infinite ETB; Infinite LTB; Infinite magecraft triggers; Infinite red mana that can only be spent to cast instant and sorcery spells; Infinite storm count

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Cormela's death triggers are specific — she returns one instant and one sorcery, so the loop strictly requires Saw in Half and one black ritual; any other ritual substituting Dark Ritual must produce at least {1}{B} to keep the loop solvent. The combo generates infinite storm count but needs a payoff to close: Grapeshot or Brain Freeze win on the spot, and any magecraft trigger that deals damage — Archmage Emeritus replaces hand instead — converts the loop into a lethal engine.
