Heliod, the Radiant Dawn // Heliod, the Warped Eclipse + Hullbreaker Horror + Mystic Speculation + Commander's Sphere

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop generates infinite magecraft triggers and infinite scry as long as opponents have drawn three cards this turn.

Heliod, the Warped Eclipse reduces spell costs by one for each card an opponent has drawn this turn; with three draws on the stack, Mystic Speculation with buyback costs exactly the one blue that Commander's Sphere produces. Hullbreaker Horror bounces Commander's Sphere back to hand on each cast, letting it reenter as a free artifact and reset the mana source for the next iteration.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

the Warped Eclipse. Your opponents have drawn at least three cards this turn.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Commander's Sphere's first ability by tapping it, adding {U}.
  2. Cast Mystic Speculation with buyback by paying {U}.
  3. Hullbreaker Horror triggers, returning Commander's Sphere to your hand from the battlefield.
  4. Resolve Mystic Speculation, causing you to scry 3 and returning Mystic Speculation to your hand.
  5. Cast Commander's Sphere by paying {0}.
  6. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite magecraft triggers; Infinite scry; Infinite storm count

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Any 0-mana or cost-reducible mana rock can replace Commander's Sphere — Mox Amber or Mana Crypt slot in cleanly if artifact redundancy matters. The loop generates no mana and no draw on its own, so a payoff is mandatory: Thassa's Oracle or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries closes after using the infinite scry to stack the deck, or a magecraft trigger on something like Archmage Emeritus converts the loop into a draw engine mid-chain.
