Banishing Knack turns Battered Golem into a bounce engine; each activation returns Sol Ring to hand, and Sol Ring's recast triggers Battered Golem to untap and do it again. The loop costs 1U to assemble mid-game and lives entirely in blue artifact shells — Sai, Master Thopterist and Urza, Lord High Artificer both want Battered Golem anyway as an untap engine for other artifact-enters triggers.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

Battered Golem does not have summoning sickness.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Banishing Knack by paying {U}, targeting Battered Golem.
  2. Activate Sol Ring by tapping it, adding {C}{C}.
  3. Activate Battered Golem by tapping it, returning Sol Ring from the battlefield to your hand.
  4. Cast Sol Ring by paying {1}.
  5. Sol Ring enters the battlefield, triggering Battered Golem, untapping Battered Golem.
  6. Repeat from step 2.

03

Result

Infinite colorless mana; Infinite storm count

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Retraction Helix is the direct substitute for Banishing Knack if blue instant slots are contested — same text, same cost, same result. The loop generates infinite storm and infinite colorless but needs a sink; Grapeshot closes on storm count, and Walking Ballista or Thassa's Oracle closes on the infinite mana side.
