Zombie Ogre is a 3/4 body for five mana with no enters-the-battlefield effect and no evasion — the stat line is unimpressive but the creature type is the entire point. Outside of decks that specifically want a Zombie on the battlefield, Acererak the Archlich strategies aside, it rarely justifies the slot.

Acererak the Archlich
Acererak the Archlich cares about Zombie tokens and creatures that populate a Zombie board, and Zombie Ogre fills that tribal headcount while being recurrable through the various reanimation lines the archetype runs.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Zombie Ogre is legal across Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but its competitive relevance is essentially zero outside casual Commander. In Pauper the rate is simply bad — five mana for a vanilla 3/4 doesn't clear the bar when the format's creature staples do far more for less. In Commander, Zombie Ogre exists almost exclusively as tribal filler in dedicated Zombie decks that need body count more than efficiency. Anywhere with a 60-card singleton or competitive structure, it doesn't make the cut.

Price Context
Current price
$0.23 bulk tier
At $0.23, Zombie Ogre sits firmly in bulk territory and will stay there — it's a low-demand common with a narrow tribal use case and no spike potential. Pick it up if a Zombie deck needs it; don't trade for it.
