You Meet in a Tavern card art
You Meet in a Tavern gives every creature you control +1/+1 until end of turn and grants them all a keyword ability — flying, first strike, double strike, deathtouch, hexproof, lifelink, menace, reach, trample, or vigilance — chosen at cast time, all for three mana at instant speed. The floor is a combat trick that wins races; the ceiling is a surprise double strike alpha strike that ends games.

Commander is where You Meet in a Tavern does the most work, specifically in go-wide token strategies where pumping ten creatures with double strike or trample at instant speed can close a game out of nowhere. In Pauper it's a legitimately playable combat trick in white aggressive shells where the keyword flexibility matters as much as the stat boost. Modern and Legacy have access to more efficient pump spells, so it rarely competes there outside of casual or budget builds. Pioneer white aggro could find fringe use for it, but the three-mana cost is a real liability in a format that demands efficiency.

Price Context

Current price

$0.22 bulk tier

At $0.22, You Meet in a Tavern is deep bulk — a near-zero entry cost for a card that pulls real weight in token decks. Bulk rares with genuine Commander utility tend to stay cheap indefinitely, so there's no urgency either direction; just pick up copies when you need them.
