Wumpus Aberration puts a massive trampling body on the board and punishes your opponents for playing lands — a unique threat that scales with the late game. The cost is real: seven mana is a lot to ask, and a vanilla-ish creature at that price needs a deck built to exploit the landfall punishment or it's just a big dumb beater.

Commander is where Wumpus Aberration actually belongs — games go long enough to cast it, and multiplayer tables mean three opponents each triggering its landfall punishment, which adds up fast. Modern has the same problem scaled down: the format's threats at this cost are far more impactful, and Wumpus Aberration doesn't survive the competition. Stick to Commander.
