Wring Flesh trades one mana at instant speed for a -3/-3 stat swing, which kills the majority of utility creatures and X/1 through X/3 threats on the board. It's efficient removal for what it costs, but doesn't touch large creatures or permanents with toughness 4 or higher, so it answers enablers more reliably than finishers.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |

In Commander, Wring Flesh earns a slot in black decks that want cheap instant-speed answers to mana dorks, token swarms, or low-toughness value creatures — but the 40-life format and prevalence of large threats mean it misses too often to be a staple. Pauper is where it shines most: one mana at instant speed handles a wide range of commons in the format, and the commons pool keeps toughness low enough that -3/-3 is frequently a clean kill. In Legacy and Vintage, the card is legal but simply outclassed — better removal exists at the same cost. Modern and Pioneer offer more competition, and Wring Flesh doesn't clear the bar in either format when Fatal Push and similar options are available.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Wring Flesh is deep bulk — a throwaway pickup that won't strain any budget. Bulk commons at this price point don't appreciate, but they don't need to; you're buying the effect, not the card.
