Wretched Banquet card art
Wretched Banquet destroys the creature with the fewest power on the board — for one black mana, with no targeting restriction beyond that floor condition. It's conditional enough to miss in creature-light metas, but in Commander pods packed with token generators and utility dorks, the condition resolves itself.

In Commander, Wretched Banquet punches above its cost in the early game, where mana dorks, 1/1 tokens, and utility creatures cluster at the bottom of the power scale — the condition is almost always live. In Pauper, the format's reliance on small creatures means Wretched Banquet can cleanly answer a key piece at common rarity for a single mana, making it a legitimate sideboard or mainboard consideration in black tempo shells. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient and unconditional removal, so Wretched Banquet never sees serious play there despite being legal. Its floor-power condition creates enough variance against linear or combo decks that it won't slot into any tuned list outside of budget pauper builds.

Price Context

Current price

$0.05 bulk tier

At $0.05, Wretched Banquet is deep bulk — you're essentially paying for the physical card. That price won't move; conditional one-mana removal at common doesn't have a spike profile.
