Woolly Loxodon puts a 6/7 with trample on the board for seven mana — respectable stats, zero text box beyond that. The cost is the problem: seven generic mana buys far more in 2024, and Woolly Loxodon rarely makes the cut outside dedicated morphs-matter strategies where its megamorph clause actually does work.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |

Woolly Loxodon is a fringe card in every format it's legal in. In Commander, it earns a slot only in dedicated morph or megamorph lists — Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer being the obvious home — where the disguised entry and face-up flip generate value beyond the raw stats. In Pauper, a 6/7 trample is a legitimate clock, but seven mana is slow and green has cheaper threats that close games faster. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern treat Woolly Loxodon as a non-entity; no competitive archetype there wants a seven-mana vanilla-adjacent creature. Pioneer follows the same logic. Play Woolly Loxodon if your deck specifically rewards flipping morphs; otherwise it's a bulk rare doing a Hill Giant impression at twice the cost.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Woolly Loxodon is deep bulk — you'll find it in a common box, not a trade binder. That price is stable in the sense that it can't really fall further, but there's no realistic demand spike on the horizon for a narrow morph-deck role-player.
