Wondrous Crucible

Permanents you control have ward .

Wondrous Crucible turns every nontoken artifact you control into a self-replacing engine — when one dies, you get a free copy that blinks out at end of turn, keeping the board perpetually restocked. Six mana is a real ask, but the immediate symmetry-breaking value on a board full of artifacts makes it a closer, not a setup piece.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Mishra, Eminent One
Mishra, Eminent One already creates attacking Construct copies of artifacts at combat — Wondrous Crucible layers on a second replacement trigger whenever those or any other artifacts die, so the board refills from two directions simultaneously.

Radha, Heir to Keld
Radha, Heir to Keld wants to attack every turn and keep mana flowing; Wondrous Crucible ensures that mana rocks and utility artifacts lost in combat don't stay gone, sustaining the aggressive gameplan through attrition.

Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci generates a stream of Vehicle tokens that are natural sacrifice fodder; Wondrous Crucible converts each loss into a temporary replacement, effectively giving the artifact army a second life every combat step.

Y'shtola Rhul
Y'shtola Rhul cares about artifacts entering the battlefield repeatedly to generate value; Wondrous Crucible feeds that trigger repeatedly by creating token copies of artifacts whenever originals die.
Ashling, Rekindled
Ashling, Rekindled thrives in a sacrifice-heavy loop environment; Wondrous Crucible turns each artifact casualty into a free token, providing fuel for additional sacrifice outlets without spending extra resources.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Wondrous Crucible is a Commander card through and through — a six-mana enchantment that rewards wide artifact boards is exactly what 40-life multiplayer games have room for, and the longer the game goes, the more replacement triggers compound. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; neither format has the patience for six-mana enchantments that don't win the game on the spot. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's DNA that artifact-focused signatures could make use of it, though the smaller deck size and faster clock shrink the window. Outside those formats Wondrous Crucible simply isn't available, and it wouldn't belong there anyway.

Price Context
Current price
$2.26 cheap tier
At $2.26, Wondrous Crucible sits in the impulse-buy tier — low enough to slot into any artifact deck without a second thought. Given its narrow but genuine demand in Mishra and artifact-token shells, that price is stable; it's not a bulk rare waiting to spike, but it's not undervalued either.
