Wolf's Quarry card art
Wolf's Quarry puts three 2/2 Elk tokens and three Food tokens onto the battlefield for five mana — that's six permanents in one spell, which is a real board presence. The cost is that five mana is a lot for a sorcery with no immediate protection, so it lives or dies by whether you can leverage the tokens before the board gets wiped.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Wolf's Quarry slots cleanly into token-go-wide strategies and sacrifice shells that want both creature bodies and Food as fodder — Gyome, Master Chef or any Golgari aristocrats commander will find real use here. Pauper is where Wolf's Quarry is most interesting outside Commander: six permanents at common rarity is a density that token strategies can exploit, and the Food tokens add incidental life gain that matters in that format's aggressive matchups. In Modern and Pioneer it's too slow and too low-impact to see play — five mana sorceries that don't close the game immediately don't survive those formats' efficiency bar. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters for the same reason at roughly double the speed.

Price Context

Current price

$0.22 bulk tier

At $0.22, Wolf's Quarry is pure bulk — you're paying for cardboard and postage, not the card itself. Bulk commons and uncommons this narrow rarely move unless a synergy piece pushes them into demand, so don't expect the price to do anything interesting.
