Wirewood Guardian is a six-mana 3/6 that replaces itself with a basic Forest when it hits the graveyard from anywhere — the body is irrelevant; the free land fetch is the whole card. It's strictly a redundancy piece for Forest-cycling chains, and outside of that niche it does nothing a cheaper spell couldn't do better.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Wirewood Guardian sees essentially zero competitive play in any format where it's legal. In Commander, it shows up in landfall and Elf-tribal decks that want to guarantee a Forest drop after a mass discard or mill event, but it's firmly a fringe inclusion — most pilots prefer ramp that produces mana immediately over a 6-mana creature that only triggers on death. Pauper is the one context where bulk commons sometimes carve out roles, but Wirewood Guardian doesn't offer enough rate even there. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters.

Price Context
Current price
$0.08 bulk tier
At $0.08, Wirewood Guardian is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not demand. There's no pressure on that price in either direction; niche Forest-fetching utility doesn't drive buyouts.
