Wicked Wolf card art
Wicked Wolf enters as a removal spell stapled to a body — it eats a creature on arrival, then grows indestructible on demand by sacrificing a Food token. The cost is real: you need a Food pipeline to get full value, which is why Wicked Wolf shows up almost exclusively in decks already built around The Cabbage Merchant or similar token generators, not as a generic green include.

The Cabbage Merchant

The Cabbage Merchant

33.7% of decks · synergy 0.33

The Cabbage Merchant generates Food tokens every time you cast a creature spell, which means Wicked Wolf has a near-permanent supply of indestructibility fuel and a kill trigger every time it enters — the two cards are a tightly interlocking engine.

02
Gyome, Master Chef

Gyome, Master Chef

27.4% of decks · synergy 0.27

Gyome, Master Chef produces a Food token on each of your end steps whenever you played a nontoken creature, so Wicked Wolf reliably has fodder to go indestructible and threaten an eat trigger turn after turn.

In Commander, Wicked Wolf earns its slot only in Food-focused builds — outside that context, a four-mana 3/3 that kills one creature and then sits there is underwhelming at a 100-card table. Competitive constructed formats tell a similar story: Modern and Pioneer offer far more efficient threats and removal at four mana, and Wicked Wolf never found a serious foothold in either. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters by power ceiling. The card's ceiling is firmly in Commander Food synergy decks, and it's genuinely good there — just not cross-format material.

Current pricing data for Wicked Wolf isn't available in this context, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a live number. Given its narrow home in Food-token Commander builds and modest constructed demand, it has historically been an inexpensive pickup — worth grabbing if you're building the right deck, but not a card to chase at a premium.
