Wicked Pact is a two-for-one removal spell that trades two permanents — one yours, one an opponent's — making it black's version of a forced sacrifice at instant speed. The symmetrical cost is real, but in Commander you're almost always crashing a token, a dying creature, or a redundant piece into whatever is threatening you most.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |

| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |

Commander is where Wicked Pact earns its slot — the format runs enough token producers and sacrifice synergies that the cost is frequently irrelevant, and unconditional permanent removal at instant speed is genuinely scarce in black. In Legacy and Vintage, it's technically legal but competes with Diabolic Edict, Liliana of the Veil, and a removal suite that asks for less from you, so it won't see play there. Wicked Pact is a Commander card through and through: it thrives in multiplayer games where you're never short of something expendable to sacrifice and the target is worth far more than whatever you're giving up.
