Welding Jar card art
Welding Jar regenerates any artifact for free — sacrifice it at instant speed, no mana required, no questions asked. The cost is a card slot and a zero-mana artifact that does nothing until something is threatened, which makes it a strong fit in decks like Emry, Lurker of the Loch that want cheap artifacts in the graveyard, and nearly automatic in Fblthp, Lost on the Range where every zero-drop has a job.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Fblthp, Lost on the Range

Fblthp, Lost on the Range

70.7% of decks · synergy 0.65

Fblthp, Lost on the Range cares about artifacts on top of the library, and Welding Jar's zero mana cost makes it a free include that also keeps key equipment or combo pieces alive through removal.

03

Slicer, Hired Muscle

56.9% of decks · synergy 0.55

Slicer, Hired Muscle is an artifact creature that gets passed around the table and painted with targets, making Welding Jar's free regeneration a reliable way to save Slicer from a removal spell it can't dodge.

04
Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender

Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender

48.5% of decks · synergy 0.45

Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender grows off artifacts going to the graveyard, but Welding Jar lets you choose when that happens — protect Syr Ginger itself when needed, or let other artifacts die on your own terms.

05
Mm'menon, the Right Hand

Mm'menon, the Right Hand

47.7% of decks · synergy 0.42

Mm'menon, the Right Hand builds around artifact synergies that punish opponents for removing your permanents, and Welding Jar is a zero-cost piece of insurance that also counts as an artifact entering or leaving the battlefield when it matters.

Commander is Welding Jar's natural home — artifact-heavy decks are everywhere, the singleton rule doesn't hurt a role-player this cheap, and free regeneration at instant speed is exactly the kind of protection that survives a table of counterspells and removal. In Pauper it sees play in artifact combo shells where protecting a key piece through a single removal spell can win the game on the spot. Legacy and Vintage have faster clocks and more efficient protection options, but Welding Jar still shows up in artifact storm lists that want as many zero-cost artifacts as possible to fuel Mox Opal or similar effects. Pioneer and Standard don't get access to it, which is no surprise given how freely it enables artifact loops.

$2.42 cheap tier

At $2.42, Welding Jar sits in the cheap tier — low enough to include without a second thought in any artifact deck that needs it. It's a niche card with a stable price floor driven by consistent Commander demand rather than any spike-prone combo exclusivity.
