Wayward Angel lands as a 5/5 flying, vigilance threat that grows every turn — but the haunt clause means you're bleeding life each upkeep unless you control a critical mass of clerics, and in Commander that condition is genuinely achievable. If your deck is built around it, it's a finisher; if it's a splash, it's a liability.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is the only format where Wayward Angel is worth serious consideration, because the 100-card singleton environment gives cleric tribal the density it needs to keep the haunt cost from draining you dry. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but never sees play — a seven-mana creature with a conditional upkeep cost has no path to a competitive slot in those formats. Oathbreaker shares the same verdict: legal on paper, irrelevant in practice. Outside Commander cleric tribal, Wayward Angel is a draft curiosity, nothing more.

Price Context
Current price
$0.54 bulk tier
At $0.54, Wayward Angel is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a playset without thinking twice. Demand is narrow enough that the price is unlikely to move unless a cleric commander breaks out and pulls the whole tribe upward.
