Wasp of the Bitter End kills a nonland permanent the moment you cast a Blacker-mana spell — no mana, no tap, no targeting restriction — stapled to a 3/2 flying body that attacks the turn it lands. The cost is narrow color identity: you need a deck built around black's specialty spells or the Amonkhet God cycle to trigger it consistently.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Wasp of the Bitter End earns a slot in any black-heavy shell that casts black spells on curve — the repeatable free removal is real and the flying body threatens in the air. Outside Commander, its stock drops sharply: Modern and Pioneer have faster clocks and more efficient threats, so a 3/2 that conditionally pops a permanent on cast rarely makes the cut over purpose-built removal. Legacy has even less interest given the power level of available threats and interaction. Oathbreaker can leverage it if the signature spell is black, making every cast a two-for-one, which is worth noting for that format's compressed game length.

Price Context
Current price
$0.24 bulk tier
At $0.24, Wasp of the Bitter End is deep bulk — grab a copy without thinking about it. Bulk rares with narrow synergy requirements rarely climb unless a new commander pushes the archetype hard, so don't expect movement, but at this price the question is never cost.
