Warrior's Sword card art
Warrior's Sword enters the battlefield and immediately gives the equipped creature +2/+2 — no hoops, no conditions, just a clean stat bump for two mana to cast and two to equip. Outside of Cloud, Planet's Champion decks where the Sword slots into a tight Final Fantasy equipment package, it doesn't compete with stronger Equipment options.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Cloud, Planet's Champion

Cloud, Planet's Champion

28.2% of decks · synergy 0.27

Cloud, Planet's Champion triggers off equipping and casting Equipment, making Warrior's Sword a cheap, on-theme piece that feeds the engine twice — once on cast, once when you move it to a new creature.

02
Sephiroth, Fallen Hero

Sephiroth, Fallen Hero

17.2% of decks · synergy 0.16

Sephiroth, Fallen Hero cares about amassing power through combat and thematic payoffs, and Warrior's Sword fills an Equipment slot in the 99 while keeping the Final Fantasy flavor intact.

03
Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms

Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms

16.6% of decks · synergy 0.16

Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms rewards stacking Equipment on a single creature, and Warrior's Sword is a low-cost way to add another piece to the pile and push that creature's power higher.

Warrior's Sword is legal everywhere but sees essentially no competitive play outside Commander. In Standard, Pioneer, and Modern, a two-mana equip cost for +2/+2 is too slow when stronger Equipment exists at the same price or cheaper. In Commander it earns its slot in one specific context: Final Fantasy-flavored decks built around Cloud, Planet's Champion, where the Equipment subtype itself is the payoff and card selection is secondary to theme density. Pauper has more efficient commons that obsolete it outright.

$0.08 bulk tier

At $0.08, Warrior's Sword is bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not the card. Bulk Equipment rarely appreciates unless a future commander makes the card type itself scarce, so don't expect movement.
