Warrant // Warden puts a threat on top of the library — effectively a one-turn removal spell — while the back half staples a 3/3 vigilance token onto any future convoke play. The split card never does either job as efficiently as a dedicated spell, but the flexibility of two usable halves in one card slot is the entire reason you run it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Warrant // Warden competes in a removal slot where the bar is high — Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile exist, and putting a threat on top rather than exiling it is a meaningful downside against commanders. The convoke half is marginally more interesting in go-wide white strategies that can exploit a free 3/3, but it rarely justifies the slot on its own. In Modern and Pioneer, the tempo loss of top-deck removal instead of exile makes Warrant // Warden a fringe option at best — those formats move too fast for the opponent to be stuck on a redrawn threat. Legacy and Vintage have better options at every point on the curve, so it sees no meaningful play there.

Price Context
Current price
$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Warrant // Warden is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box rather than buy. That price reflects its power level accurately and isn't going anywhere.
