Warfire Javelineer enters and immediately pings a target for damage equal to the number of instant and sorcery spells you've cast this turn — in the right deck, that's a free Lightning Bolt stapled to a body. The cost is real: it does nothing in empty-handed midgame and asks you to build around it to get full value.
Format Analysis

Warfire Javelineer is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it's a Commander card through and through. Spell-slinger builds — Magecraft triggers, Izzet storm-adjacents, spellcopy loops — can stack the damage high enough to matter, and a five-drop that doubles as a removal spell on entry fits those decks' gameplan. In Pioneer and Modern it competes against a much tighter curve and more reliable payoffs, so it rarely makes the cut outside of budget brews. Legacy and Vintage aren't serious considerations; the bar there is simply too high for a conditional five-mana 3/3.

Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Warfire Javelineer is deep bulk — you're paying for the cardboard, not the card. Bulk rares in niche roles rarely spike unless a new commander breaks them wide open, so treat it as an inexpensive pickup for the decks that want it and nothing more.
