Wall of Frost card art
Wall of Frost locks down any creature that swings into it — tap it, and it stays tapped through the owner's next untap step, turning every block into a two-turn removal spell. Arcades, the Strategist decks run it as both a 3/3 attacker and a soft stax piece that punishes anyone who tries to race you.

Arcades, the Strategist

Arcades, the Strategist

71.1% of decks · synergy 0.66

Arcades, the Strategist turns Wall of Frost into a 3/3 beater that draws a card on entry, and the tapping ability means any creature bold enough to block or trade into it is stranded for a full turn cycle.

02
The Pride of Hull Clade

The Pride of Hull Clade

52.4% of decks · synergy 0.52

The Pride of Hull Clade cares about high-toughness creatures, and Wall of Frost's 7 toughness makes it one of the fattest bodies the deck can put on the ground while still carrying a relevant combat deterrent.

03
Phenax, God of Deception

Phenax, God of Deception

51.0% of decks · synergy 0.50

Phenax, God of Deception mills cards equal to a creature's toughness, so Wall of Frost taps to dump 7 cards into an opponent's graveyard — and anything that attacks into it gets locked down for a turn, buying you another activation.

04
Pramikon, Sky Rampart

Pramikon, Sky Rampart

34.3% of decks · synergy 0.33

Pramikon, Sky Rampart builds a defensive fortress that funnels attacks in one direction, and Wall of Frost plugs the ground holes Pramikon can't cover while soft-locking any creature that tries to test the wall.

In Commander, Wall of Frost earns its slot in any Arcades, the Strategist or Phenax, God of Deception list that wants a high-toughness body with built-in board control — it's one of the few walls that punishes attackers without spending additional resources. Outside Commander, Wall of Frost is legal in Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees essentially no competitive play in any of them — three mana for a non-flying defender just isn't a rate those formats respect. This is a Commander card through and through, and even there its audience is narrow: if your commander doesn't convert toughness into damage, cards drawn, or mill triggers, Wall of Frost is a speed bump with no upside.

Price Context

Current price

$0.27 bulk tier

At $0.27, Wall of Frost is deep bulk — you'll find copies in bulk bins or pick them up as throw-ins without thinking twice. The price is stable because demand is entirely niche; it won't spike unless a new high-profile walls commander pushes it into broader circulation.
