Wall of Deceit card art
Wall of Deceit blocks almost anything on turn two and then flips face-down at instant speed to dodge removal, reset for a morph trigger, or bait a combat trick — that combination of defender and evasion tool on a 0/5 body is genuinely useful. The catch is that it does nothing offensive and only earns its slot when your deck actively rewards the morph cycle, which is why it's nearly a staple in Missy and largely irrelevant everywhere else.

Wall of Deceit is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but the formats where it sees any real play are effectively just Commander and niche Legacy cubes. In Commander it earns a spot in morph-matters builds — primarily Missy and similar face-down-matters commanders — where the repeatable flip-down ability generates consistent value rather than just stalling. Legacy and Vintage have better two-mana defensive options and no structural reward for morphing, so Wall of Deceit doesn't compete there.

Price Context

Current price

$0.27 bulk tier

At $0.27, Wall of Deceit sits firmly in bulk territory and is easy to pick up in any common box or bulk lot. It's unlikely to spike given the narrow scope of morph synergy in Commander, so there's no urgency — just grab one when you need it.
