Vulturous Zombie turns every card that hits any graveyard into a +1/+1 counter, and in a four-player game that snowballs fast enough to close games on its own. Five mana for a 0/0 that routinely ends up as a 10/10 by the midgame is a real deal.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is the only format where Vulturous Zombie is actually good — four players generating graveyard activity at all times means it grows multiple times per round without any setup. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but completely unplayable; those formats move too fast and demand too much from a five-mana vanilla-until-cards-die creature. Modern is the same story: the graveyard activity is there in some shells, but a five-mana 0/0 with no immediate impact gets answered before it ever becomes relevant. Stick to Commander, specifically any Golgari or sultai shell that already treats the graveyard as a resource.

Price Context
Current price
$0.33 bulk tier
At $0.33, Vulturous Zombie is deep bulk — you'll find it in a dollar box before you bother ordering it. The price reflects low competitive demand across all formats, but in Commander it consistently outperforms its cost, so there's no reason to expect it to rise or fall meaningfully.
