Volcanic Wind deals damage equal to its power to each creature an opponent controls — at six mana, that's a one-sided boardwipe against go-wide token strategies that leaves your creatures standing. Commander is the only format where Volcanic Wind is realistically playable, and even there it sits on the fringe. The one-sided nature is genuinely valuable — sweeping an opponent's token swarm without touching your own board is exactly what red wants — but six mana for conditional damage rarely competes with Blasphemous Act or Chain Reaction, which cost less and hit harder regardless of your board state. Legacy and Vintage are legal but irrelevant; nothing at that power level is losing sleep over a sorcery that needs setup to function. Run it in Commander if your meta is full of Elves and Goblin tokens and your curve supports the six-drop, but it's a role-player, not a staple.
