Vizkopa Confessor lets you look at an opponent's hand and strip a nonland card when you pay its extort trigger — a discard outlet stapled to hand information for five mana. That's too slow and too conditional for most Commander tables, where sorcery-speed single-target discard rarely swings games.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Vizkopa Confessor is a Commander card in the loosest sense — the format's slower clock makes five-mana plays more survivable, and extort has marginal value in a 40-life format. Even there, dedicated discard commanders like Tinybones, Trinket Thief or Nekusar, the Mindrazer have better tools that don't require spending mana twice to activate. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern, Pioneer, or Legacy, a five-mana creature that conditionally discards one card is simply unplayable — those formats answered this question with one-mana spells years ago. Vizkopa Confessor is a casual Commander inclusion at best, and a narrow one even there.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Vizkopa Confessor is deep bulk — the kind of card you find in a dollar box without looking. That price reflects demand accurately and is unlikely to move without an unexpected reprint synergy or format shift.
